Master Bedroom Lighting
Last time I showed you guys my master bedroom in progress, you probably saw that big ugly spinning fan above the bed. Living in Texas, having fans in every room is a must, and I will probably be regretting this come summer, but I just could not keep the fan in the room. I love to see chandeliers in bedrooms, especially master bedrooms, and mine was no exception. I had been looking at Overstock for a while, trying to decide which light fixture I wanted. I had originally had my sight set on one, until, quite by chance, this one popped up. I couldn't believe I had missed it in my search, and as soon as I saw it, I fell in love.

Chalk Paint Coasters
We got an early anniversary gift from my sister-in-law when we were up in Tulsa a couple of weeks ago. She knows me well, and gave me something she knew I would love. We tend to put chalk paint on pretty much everything we can, why not coasters? Such an awesome idea, and one I will copying, as teacher appreciation week is coming up real soon.
These were super easy to make, I just picked up some 31 cent tiles from Home Depot, used a fine sanding paper to roughen them up a bit, and sprayed painted them with chalk paint. I then used some furniture felt pads for underneath, done! So easy, and so cute, it will definitely be something different. How about my kids give them with a flower and a chalk paint pen?

My Big Fat Greek Cookies: Kourabiedes
I wanted to share this recipe that a friend from Houston gave me right before we moved to Dallas. It is for Kourabiedes, or greek butter cookies. My husband's side of the family are half italian, half greek, and he grew up eating this sugary cookies. The first time I made them, I shared it with my father in-law, and he couldn't believe how good they were, and also could not believe that the recipe came from my old neighbor, who is not greek.
From what I read on-line, this cookies are originally served during special occasions, like weddings, christmas, or birthdays. They pretty much resemble shortbread cookies, and may or may not contain nuts. This past weekend was greek Easter, and the perfect occasion to bake up some goodies. Here is what you need:

Meet Our Pets
So, I realize that I don't post any personal pictures of me or my family. I am the official family photographer, so I am always behind the camera, I will have to find a way to change that. My kids are age 10 (soon to be 11) and 7, so they are in school the majority of the day. It is usually me and the dogs, so they have become my go to models for picture taking, not to mention, my kids, especially my 10 year old, hate to have their pictures taken, in most of their pictures I take, they are giving me an evil, bored look.
Anyways, I figure, I would go ahead and introduce my dogs to everyone, I'm sure you have seen them popping in some pictures before, because unlike my kids, as soon as they hear the camera, they run to where I am.
So here they are:

A Work In Progress - Master Bedroom
I have been quite busy with a master bedroom project lately. I always get an itch this time of year for change, and this time, it was the master bedroom....again (I re-did it last year, at this same time). It is still a work in progress, and will probably stay like this for a while, as I would LOVE (hint..hint) to get some new furniture in here, but since that is not happening as fast as I would like it to, I will have take my time, and look for pieces I truly will love for many years (as told by my husband), just this time around, I will make sure that there is no matching furniture.

Project Blogging
So, I received an e-mail today from Heather from Inspire Me Heather, asking if I wanted to do a little blogging experiment. Basically, I will critique two blogs, (and receive some myself) and I will have to let them know what I liked and disliked about their blogs, my answers, of course, will be anonymous. Being a new blogger, I thought this is kind of scary, I am a little afraid of knowing what others truly think, but I also think it may help in the long run, because then I will know what I am doing right and wrong. I will be giving this a shot, and hoping for the best. Hope on over, to her blog, and check it out.
