Granite Shopping 101

I have been looking to get granite countertops for our kitchen since we moved in.  Our current countertops, although look nice, are laminate, and up until this past week, never really bothered me, but all of a sudden, I have noticed that they have a gray tone to them, and really don't match the cabinets at all.  I have no idea how I was able to look past this for almost two years, because when things don't match, I get a nervous tick if you know what I mean.

A DIY Frame

Hi everyone, hope your weekend went well.  I have been quite busy doing absolutely nothing with the kids, and we are loving it!  Lot's of pajama days, pool lounging, late rising, and stuff like that going on in this house.  I do try to squeeze in some projects here and there, but most of them require being outside, and I have to get up pretty early to start working on them because it gets so hot outside after 10am, or we get crazy rain storms with lighting and hail...ah...the glorious weather in north Texas!

A few months ago we had a family photo shoot in a field of bluebonnets, I always wanted outdoors pictures taken, and the bluebonnets being in full swing, worked out just perfect. It had rained a few days before, so there was plenty of ant hills to go around, so even though we were smiling in the pictures, as soon as the camera stopped, we were scrambling to move, and swap them off...ouch!!  I think next year, we will wear really high boots.

After finally receiving the pictures, I needed to decide on framing the main one of us we got.  Because this is not a canvas, it's more of a wrap type of picture, I was afraid a regular frame, since it needs to be nailed in, might damage the portrait.  I then spotted this beauty here, and as soon as I saw it, I knew this is what I needed.

The Craft Room Reveal

It seems I have been posting a lot of makeovers lately, and for the first time in a long time, I feel like my house is finally where it should be.  I told you about this room here.  I used to keep the door shut at all times when we had company, even if said company was only 7 year olds.  I did not want any one going in there and getting hurt.  And it was also embarrassing.  But I mustered up all my energy to go in there, clean it all out, and start from scratch.

From Frame to Chalkboard

Hi everyone, hope your week is going great so far.  We are officially in summer break, and are taking it very slow around here.  I have had this picture for as long as I can remember, and my taste has changed dramatically over the years, so this picture has always been put in a room where I knew people wouldn't be going in, and of course, this room was the office.  If your remember from this post, I had always kept the door shut, because it was embarrassing to see.  Well, I have since gave it a little face lift, and I cannot wait to share it with you, but today I wanted to show you what has become of that ugly picture:

A Desk Makeover And A Favorite Paint And Color

Hi everyone, hope your week has been going well.  Today my son is graduating from 5th grade, so I am a little emotional, I can't believe how fast time just goes by, a very bittersweet feeling indeed.

I have been working for the past couple of weeks on our office/ craft room makeover.  This room was in complete chaos, just when I thought that it was ok, everyone would go in there, and make the biggest mess of papers, books, fabrics, toys..everything we wanted to store would just go in there, and the doors would get shut after, so that I would not get reminded of the mess that awaited me.  Seriously, it was stressing me out, because I am such a clean freak.  I first started by donating the dining table I was using as a desk, and cleaned everything out of the room, into the game room.  I then started working on my first project, the two desks.
