I have not been doing much lately, just a few things here and there, and wanted to share it on the blog.
First, I picked up this cute little topiary at michael's, along with the white planter, put them together, and added some moss on top. The wire basket came from Hobby Lobby (50 % off right now) and the white pitcher from Ikea, it is currently sitting by my kitchen window. I am loving white right now, I think it has to do with the whole making my house brighter thing. I got the whole idea from Joan's blog (on the kitchen island). I so wish I could get the courage to paint my cabinets white or cream color.
I picked up this little wooden box at my local mercantile, but I must have been blind that day (and not able to smell either) because as soon as I walked home, I saw the inside, and let me tell you, this stuff was gross, I don't know where this was used in before, but it smelled like manure. It stayed in my garage for a while, because I was afraid to touch it. I finally decided I needed to do something with it, so after washing with soap, staining, sealing it, and mod podging a musical sheet on the inside, it finally made it to the inside of our home:

Much better.
I totally fell in love when I spotted this on Courtney's blog, and have been meaning to do it on my Ikea frames with my entomology prints, but I finally got the motivation when I saw Sarah had done the same thing to her frames. I used the rubb and buff in gold leaf, and basically followed Courtney's directions (minus the tape). Love how they turned out.
Lastly, this is how my living room is looking these days:
Notice that the rug is missing? That's because I sold it on Craig's list, and going in it's place is this beauty:
It's the braided jute rug from Ballard Designs, and it's on sale right now. I also got a matching one for our foyer, but both won't be shipped until the 18th, so for now, my floors are cold and bare. I would also love to replace the pictures with a gallery wall, and have been pinning inspirations for a lay out, here is just one (or many):
Now, if the kids would just let me take some current pictures, this might actually work out.
Hope everyone has a great weekend, and here's hoping you don't catch what's going around either!

Love the frames.

I love the topiary and pitcher in the wire basket. I LOVE baskets! :) Your living room is so pretty, I think a gallery wall will be awesome. Did you get the floral pillow on the sofa from Pottery Barn? It looks familiar and I really like it. Love the rug you are getting, too. Have you ever shopped Natural Area Rugs? They have amazing prices.
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon! :)

I love the gold corner frames. The prints you have in them are perfect.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Kristel for stopping by and your sweet comment, btw I love Pottery Barn a lot! Your rug is so nice bet you can't wait to see it in your livingroom!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, lots of good stuff going on! I LOVE the gold corners added to your frames...now you've got my wheels spinning for the prints I just put in the dining room. I couldn't decide between gold or black so that might be a perfect solution! What a lot of gallery wall options! I like some of the more random smaller and larger mixed together arrangements since your botanical prints are so symmetrical. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteLove the frames with gold corners!!
ReplyDeleteThere's so much to love in this room...every gorgeous detail. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove all your recent finds! Let me know how you like your rug. I was thinking of ordering it as well but was afraid teh fringe would be a tripping issue for my boys. Thanx for coming to THT.
